A battery basically consists of three elements - the anode, the cathode and the electrolyte in between. These three materials react between themselves to convert the chemical energy to electrical energy. All batteries can be divided into two basic categories - Primary ( Use & Throw or Non - Rechargeable ) and Secondary ( Rechargeable ). Each of these categories consists of many types of batteries having different Electro chemistries.
